Hello All,
I am brand new to the boating world and need some advice. I bought a 14 foot V-Hull 1969 Landau boat with an Evinrude 9.2 hp engine. I am a novice and would like to get the engine working correctly. It's been sitting up for about 4 years, so how should I start?

Howdy, Carl-T.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Start by supplying us the engine model number. If it is an Evinrude it is not a Sea King and it is not 9.2HP.

Re: 9.2 HP Sea King Engine

Hey JB,
Thanks for opening up my eyes. The engine is a 1969 Sea King, I think by Wards. 9.2 HP. The serial number is 96X10174 and the model number is VWB29909A. Now I have it correct as I am looking at the original marine certificate of title. I bought the bought 4 years ago and have not run the outboard. I've just been using the trolling motor. I don't even know how to hook up the rabbit ears to the engine to try to run it in my yard with the water hose. I need help. I took the whole engine apart and soaked it clean. Now it's back together and I don't know where to go from here.

9.2 rings bells with me from Chrysler and Mcculloch. Not OMC.

lets go Boobie, come in off the tiki deck and the bells will stop ringing, its time to clean the blender and whip down the bar, theres no doubt its a 9.2 sea king made by Gale a division of OMC,

Now help me drink up the rest of this beer before JB come back and we will celebrate you making Rear Admril, I honestly didn't know you could find that much to talk about

mrcrabs, I'm surprised at you, grin, VWB model is Westbend or Chrysler in this case Chrysler.
Fuel mix normal use is 50:1.Use TCW3 rated oil, regular gas.
Have you checked for spark?Did you rebuild the carb?Have you checked compression?
I don't trust muffs especially with a rookie.Speaking generically, get a nice big trash can and fill to the brim and and imerse the leg up to the mount bracket.(with the motor on the boat)Set the throttle on start,Hook up gas line and squeeze the primer bulb till firm(if any arrows on the bulb they point toward the motor) pull the choke and pull the rope. When it starts push the choke in.

I know what your talking about. The wife had her right knee done 2 years ago
When they slapped the morphine to her it did absolutely nothing didn't even make her daffy.
She can't do codine so the search was on.
Took most of the night but I think it was tramadol they discovered worked well.
Today the knee is pretty much normal and she gets a new left knee in December.
Do exactly as the pt people say and you'll be dancing a jig in no time.

I'm trying, they cut on me wednesday, They had me off morphien in 2 days, made me sick and couldn't eat and was out of my head...hell I never did eat anthing but jello, I was out on the 4th day, I have seen the PT lady here at home twice since...what really gets me is peaing in that jug at night while I lean against the wall....

I think I'm going for a shower and then take the walker out to the shed and visit my friends and fiddle with a twin Stator to rebuild...maybe snif some gas/oil mix...lolol...surely it will get better. Only thing that make me feel ashamed about my crying is when I think of all of our service men and woman and I think my God how can the bear the pain, what heros we have in this country...my heart goes out to them...but my finger goes up to the people who put them there...may the rot in hell....from now on I'm for pushing the little button that makes glass out of sand...

Oh Boobie, I just got confused on the "VWB" model numbers....just to much crap banging around in my head at the wrong time, but if you just have to have a project piece I will not let you down, at present I'm working out a shift boot and seal and wiper for the gamefisher twins shift rod and I'm working on a major flaw concerning the water tube breaking at the inlet at the engine, am also rebuilding a twin stator for my friend mahtymaht free gratis, no solicitation....I will also have the thermostat identified with the major brand outboard model that it was borrowed from,
I have worked really hard with our Yahoo group and Ed Stoller and mahty and tyler and many others to fix what was once a unfixable $250 to replace solid state ignition and unlike some I kissed up to know one to get it done....I did it because I care about the little fish, and theres othere around here that do to,
I'm a mover and a shaker buddy, raise up with my hand on the tiller of a Merc or a J/E....I was born with a true pioneering spirit and a desire to help others.... a true river man who would give you the shirt off of his back.
And you know what, frankly I guess I should keep my big mouth shut when it come to other odd ball outboards, but contary to popular belief I'm only human .....Ok now I need a pill please :) so come on lets be friend again Boobie because your name reminds me of something I'm very fond of in pairs :D
