Chris,
Verify that you have spark to each cylinder. Post compression figures too. Don't use starting fluid, it does not have oil for lubrication, use fuel/oil mix in a spray bottle instead.

Chris,
Sounds like to have a fuel delivery problem. You can still have problems with the carb not being clean, clogged low speed idle circuit, float not set properly etc. Did you lightly seat the low speed idle mixture screw and then back out 1 1/2 turns for an initial setting?? Remove fuel line from carb, place in a small container, pull starter rope. Does fuel flow freely into the small container?? If not, look at fuel pump.

Re: 9.5 Evinrude 1970's

Hi, I just bought a new fuel pump and fuel lines for it. I checked the points and condensor and they are set to the right specifications. It will kick over for 5 seconds and then stop. It has to be a fuel delivery problem, But I dont know how. I checked the carb again, and it is clean. And I also set the low speed idle mixture screw 1 1/2 turns for an initial setting. Please help me!!!!
