9.5 evinrude wont go at full throttle

Hi well it was a nice memorial weekend except for getting in some mud in shallow water. My engine will not power up when you try to go full throttle. I checked the cotter pin and it is fine. I can go very slow but when I accelerate it just makes a vrooming sound. Anyone got any idea what damage was caused. Gears? prop? please help!!!!!

Howdy, F4M.<br /><br />The cotter pin just holds the nut on. You have either broken a shear pin or spun your prop, depending on what year your engine is.<br /><br />Good luck.

Sounds like it is the rubber in the prop has broken free. I got a new prop for around $85 canadian. The prop mechanic said that it was not worth putting a new rubber in.<br /><br />Mike

Hi all! Thanks for the help it was the rubbber hub inside the prop moving around. Luckily I have a friend who gave me an older prop from the same kind of engine. Chnaged the prop and took her to the water and she is ready for some fishing !! Thanks again
