A few of you may remember my adventures in Stuck driveshafts with my 65 evinrude 9.5 sportwin. Long story short.....take your motor apart from time to time and clean and lube it. After sitting for 15 odd years, the motor was relatively easy to get tweak up and running again, but changing the impeller really requires the driveshaft coming out of the powerhead. I have that motor stripped down to it's last nut and bolt right now......with all the parts labelled and sorted in ziploks. Tomorrow I take it into work for one last try to get the thing apart. Just the driveshaft, and crank...... a tonne of heat and a 5 ton press. I'm skeptical that even this will get it after everything I've tried.
Now for the happiness. The motor did run extremely well for the short stints when I ran it in the tub. My friend has just given me the same engine but with Johnson Badging....I think it's a 67. It's a pretty strong runner with no worries, new coils, impeller, points, carb kit....So it looks like all my tinkering on my motor has just been a classroom for this one. My motor will most likely just be kept for parts now. But I plan on giving this one the Camo paint job as well.
Thanks for all your help with my motor guys, and for the love of god....lube those driveshafts and make sure the o-ring is on there. Take care Drake
