I had the motor in last year and they replaced the fuel pump, checked the compression, replaced the spark plugs, and adjusted the timing. First time out it ran great ( gas is new ) until at full throttle there was a small knock and now the fastest it runs is at 1/3 speed at wot. It starts ok, 4-5 pulls after a choke, idles a little rought, then runs rough and slow. It starts bogging down badly but doesn't kill. Can't get it into a local mechanic ( he thought it was only running on one cyclinder) for a couple weeks and I don't feel comfortable out on any lake bigger then 50 acres. Pulled the plugs and they are clean. Ideas? :(

Howdy, JPS.

I agree with your wrench. Don't operate the engine until it is working or you may destroy it.

My suggestion is this:

Get yourself a shop manual, then come back here and we can guide you to fixing it yourself.

Good luck. :)

Don't run this until it is right. You are running on one cylinder. Check for spark on the plugs. I'm betting that you have a bad ignition coil/power pack. They are a bit pricey but I feel confident that it will fix your problem. Don't forget to put the plug in.
