9.5 wont open up

Hi everyone
So today i tore into my 9.5 hp Evinrude sportwin. I gave the crab a good cleaning because it was running really poor. It cleared up the idle but at high speed it doesn't run well at all. My primer bulb stays hard and my tank is good with no leaks anywhere in the fuel system. At high speed the rpms will fluctuate and eventually just loose power all together. It doesn't die but it will bog down. Maybe the ignition system?

Also in reverse it doesn't really pump any water and it gets hot quick but in neutral and forward it pumps great and stays cool. Is this normal?

did you removed the high speed jet, and clean it. they do not cool well in reverse, the prop washes the cooling water away.

I did do the high speed needle.
Well I think I found the problem I have a famous exhaust leak under the hood. So how do I go about changing the gaskets and I need 3 right. Well i guess i start tearing it apart. I hope I can get the parts and back together before bass opens this weekend!

Well I've got most of it torn apart. Was not a fun job. I spent most of my time scratching my head and thinking how the... I don't really see an issue with any of the gaskets. Would it be obvious to where it is leaking from? Like an oily build up or carbon? Also would gasket in a tube work for this or should I just order the gaskets? I want her running by the weekend.

i would do it right, order gaskets, also check the water/exhaust hose for holes.
