Hello all.

I was given a 1966 (?) 9.8 hp 100 cc Merc kicker motor s/n 2074102. It has good compression, and a fat spark. I have only owned OMC's, so these are a little different. The fuel tank that came with the motor recommends 6 oz oil per gallon, but I understand that most Mercs of this vintage get away with 50:1. I don't know if the tank belongs with the engine originally.

The engine was set up for remote controls, so the shift lever and tiller/throttle assembly are missing. How much are these going to cost from a boneyard?

Also, what is an objective comparison between this engine and a 1969 Evinrude 9.5? I have had two of these engines and they have been very dependable.

Any info will be appreciated

TE
