I bought a 12 ft alum boat with a 1987 mariner 9.9 on it yesterday. The owner flipped the on switch,pulled the choke out and pulled it one time and it fired right up and ran it for a couple of seconds. I carried it home and did the same thing he did but it would not start.Much pulling later I had it flooded and gas was leaking out of the prop.So... I pulled the new plugs out for a cleaning and let the 9.9 set for several minutes.Put plugs back in,but it would not start. I soon discovered that it was not getting any spark to the plugs.Why? What could be wrong here? Why would it start one day and not the next? Thanks for any help.
