9.9 fourstroke gas in the oil

My 2006 mercury 9.9 fourstroke got gas in the oil. Could the fuel pump allow gas to seep into the oil?

I can't believe that folks jump skyhigh and want to buy new parts.----Take the fuel pump apart and inspect it.----May just need a diaphragm.----Serial # of your motor ?----A complete pump may not be available.-----Fact ,-- you can buy a new fuel pump for some 1968 small 2 stroke outboards.----But these new 4 strokes are a nightmare for parts.
