Are you speaking of the intake manifold gasket? If so, you should be able to pull the manifold without pulling the powerhead. If you are talking about the crankcase half of the block, then you must remove the powerhead - and there is no gasket. It uses a special anaerobic sealer between the crankcase halves.

Almost positive to change the manifold gasket the powerhead has to come off, you can't get the bottom bolts out any other way, maybe someone has done it.

You don't need to pull the power head for that gasket. I believe you will have to remove the cowl latch to give enough clearance. Make sure to resurface your head with a flat surface and some 120 grit sandpaper before putting it back on. Best of luck. Rick.

You can do it without removing the cowl latch, it's just tight with it in the way.

bktheking: So.... All these times I've removed that cowl latch. I hate removing them and now I find out I didn't have to. I'm almost looking forward to pulling a head now. Thanks for that. Funny how you get used to doing something to the point you don't even question your process. Rick.

Nope unless you have HUGE hands that can't get into where you need to get, I did my 15 without removing anything but the cover, mind you it was tight but still worked.
