If you're thinking of discarding that 15hp carburetor, I'd like to look it over and clean/rebuild it..... see if I can find the problem with it. Whatever shipping would be, I'd reimburse you.

Pertaining to the term "Later Models".... I never bothered to group the engines, the term was simply a saying to me, however......

The 9.9 and 15hp Evinrude and Johnson models, as far as the mechanical design which designated the horsepower, was identical from 1974 to 1980. The only difference in horsepower was due to the carburetor. Installing a 15hp carburetor on a 9.9 engine within those years upgraded it to a 15hp model.

Changes were made, starting in 1981.... head, tuning tube, etc etc, along with the carburetor that made it costly to make the hp upgrade, too costly for most.

I already put a carb kit in it, it's been cleaned several times. I pulled the welch plugs out, cleaned it good with carb cleaner. I'm really not sure what else can be done with it. I'm going to hold on to it, just in case.
