Hi all, I'm gonna try to keep this as short as possible. My 2009 9.9 Merc Pro Kicker (Tohatsu powerhead) won't idle buit will run at high RPM no problem. Had the low speed idle jet cleaned and it ran great for awhile then started doing the same. Cleaned the carb bowl and found black particles I assume were rubber. After flushing out carb, the motor purred like a kitten. Changed all fuel lines to ethanol resistant lines figuring old lines were breaking down from ethanol gas and now it won't idle again. Should I disassemble carb and clean properly in case there's still contamination or could this be something else. (ie. fuel pump???)

Have you popped the brass cap out and have you adjusted the mixture screw yet?
Sounds go me like a mixture issue potentially.
I attached a picture to facilitate the question. At the end of the arrow is the brass cap in question.

Just an update for anyone having the same problem. There was still some rubber particles left in the system from the old fuel lines breaking down. Soaked the carb overnight in carb cleaner but the low speed jet was still clogged. Used small wire gauges and cleaned the rubber from the jet. Just got back from a three day fishing trip and it purred like a kitten for several hours of trolling.
