9.9 prop nut torque

Just got a new Solis 9.25x10 prop for my 9.9 Johnson (J10R76H), and have a question. When installing the prop, I lightly greased the shaft, put the prop on, then the prop bushing, then the nut. I tightened the nut down snug, but could not get the cotter pin in any of the holes without loosening the nut slightly. This leaves a slight amount of play in the nut (I can move the nut back and forth with my fingers). Is this a problem? Should I try to really torgue down on the nut to get it to advance to the next hole for the cotter pin?

Re: 9.9 prop nut torque

Usually three grunts is enough AM..... :) Seriously......If the cotter key won't go in, snug the nut around till it does. Can't be that far off.
