9.9 ted williams

i have a 9.9 ted williams or so i was told. the tag is t-381 tecumeh 7020279
starts up good. I do have good ignition, the problem is that it will not pee for me. I check the impeller it seems GREAT like brand new. is there a thermostat that could be clogged or anything??

Another thing to add the only thing that comes out of the pee hole looks to be exhuast smoke???? anything??

I have heard of the thermostat engines not making a stream without being revved up, but make sure the key pin is holding the impeller, you can lose alotttt of pressure at the drive shaft seal on the pump. They can also lose it were the water tube inters the base.

As far as having a thermostat early 80s model 9.9/15 did have them. Use your model no. at searsparts.com and you will find out.

No water pump just impeller and its good i just dont know how to unclog it it has to be clogged somewhere in there!!

below the impeller and housing which is your "water pump" is the water inlet holes which feed the pump, I have had those clogged shut buy dirt daubers nest and bits of old impeller...

yea thats clear it seems.. Do u know how i could clear it out of the motor?? its been siting for years the guys said. Could a seal be bad??

I just rebuilt a 7.5 deluxe which uses the same lower unit as you engine, I'm guessing you need a gasket set where the water inters the engine, and seals for the lower cooling system, I use sears for the part no.s and buy my parts from www.certifiedpartscorp.com or you could join the eska yahoo group and deal with Eskaman2008 who is a member there....he has much more knowledge of your engine and what could be wrong,
