I have a 2003 Yamaha with about 10 hrs. on it. Ever since day 1 the motor needs to be cranked (electric) for about 20-30 minutes to get it started. Whenever the gas line is disconnected at the motor is when the trouble begins. If I leave the gas line connected the motor starts with the first crank. When I trailer the boat, I remove the motor and gas line. Then when I try to start her up at the boat ramp. Crankkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. Crankkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. Any suggestions?

are you sure your properly priming the carb and fuel system when you try to restart ?
sounds like your using the engine fuel pump to fill the system instead of the fuel primer bulb

Follow the starting instructions in the owner's manual. My 2003 4 stroke with rope start never takes more than 2 pulls to start the motor.

I was having same problem with my 1993, and did this and it starts and runs right away now.

With engine off & cold, put in gear, turn throttle wide open and back to exact idle spot, put in neutral, hit start and don't move throttle. This sets automatic choke, worked for me.
