Just bought me a used 1999 21' bayliner capri. Found a great deal on a used 4stroke 9.9hp yamaha outboard motor. It is a long shaft motor. Not sure how long yet havent gone and looked, I have only seen pictures. First question is exactly how long should the shaft be? Also wanted to know if this engine is powerfull enough to use on this boat? The mounting bracket on the back of my boat says good up to 15hp. I am tradeing my two go karts to this guy (value $800) for the 9.9 yamaha. Do you think that this is a good trade or am I getting ripped. 5Nb5Y35Kb3kd3Fe3N5c8h5a743d9f61661e2d (1).jpg

Seems like an awfully one sided deal based on your numbers. Yeah, NEW the Yammy will go for over 1500 bucks but used? Do a little more research before trading. Also consider the demand on your go-karts. Will you find it easy to sell them in the future or are they a specialty item with relatively low demand?

New a Yamaha 9.9 is in the $2,500+ range depending on options. This is an older style though....$800 maybe....depends on condition.
