90' 454 mag carb question

Hi, my question is why my engine ( when at operating temp) will sometimes fire up and instantly die with no throttle movement(just at idle). If I throttle up and down it gets a pump of gas and starts fine. I was told to adjust the idle jets but dont feelit is fixing the problem. Do I need to further adjust the jets or could it be another issue. There are not any aftermarket parts on this engine.

It's a carb, not fuel injection. Your engine just wants some more fuel to start. There isn't a bunch of electronics to do that on a carb, you have to use the throttle.
