I have a 2003 90 merc 4 stroke. at the begining of this year I had a new water impeller installed just because its time..water came out the pee hole like it did new fished all summer...SO I took my boat out the other day and no pee out hole..called dealer and they said if the thermostate wasnt open it wouldnt pee! HUH it seemed to always pee in the past, I think it did anyway....anyone have any knowledge on this or where to get a good repair manual for this 90 4 stroke..

It is very common for the plastic fitting that the tell tale hose connects to to get plugged up. Stick a length of weed whacker line up the tube to open it up. If there was a cooling system problem the overheat warning would sound.

Stick the weed whacker line into the "T" or remove it to verify that its not plugged. But if you are reading water pressure, one side of the "T" goes to the pressure gauge and the other to the tell tale so you either didn't get the line clean or its pinched.

Pull the hose off the little plastic piece that goes thru the cowling. Then see if you get water.

If you have water pressure, the take off point for that gauge is the same exact point as the tell tale (the "T"). So if the gauge shows water pressure, the tell tale should flow as well. This isn't rocket science. Its like putting a "Y" in your garden hose. If one side flows water and the other doesn't the hose is plugged or kinked or the nozzel at the end is turned off. Same with the tell tale. Its blocked or kinked. The thermostat has nothing to do with it. If it did the gauge would not show water pressure either. Here's a picture of the two lines. The big one is the tell tale. The small one feeds the water pressure gauge. Disconnect the tell tale and blow through it or run weed whacker line through it. Then clean the "T".

There are only two hoses. Follow the tell tale back to the T. This one is special but a T is a T. -- One inlet and two outlets. If one side works and the other doesn't, the side that doesn't is plugged or pinched.
