Ok.. Thats perfect. That was exactly all i was wondering. I know the basics of both advancing and retardimg timing on a car. But i have no idea about the inner workings of the timing systems on a v4 crossflow. The only thing i can figure is that the timimg advance was stuck and sticking for years. As well as maybe the carbs were clogged for god knows how long. The extra power the motor developed was amazing. And the extra 5 to 6 mph was pretty nice. So i was just trying to understand the why and how pushing the timer forward made it feel like it doubled its horse power. Lol... Iys good to know that odds are when we get it back this week that it will be more powerful then it has been sense we first bought it 3. Years ago.

Just an update. We got the boat back from the repair shop on Saturday. But it in the lake on Sunday. And all I can say is it is like anither boat altogether. The timer base must have been sticking for years and years. Ever sense we bought it 3 years ago at least and probably before that . The hole shot the boat has now is night and day. It feels like I could snap a skiers arms out of there sockets at wot from a stand still. And the top speed. Well we gained 4 to 5 mph roughly. It now does 45mphright on the nose on a 13 1/4 x 17p prop that is beat up at 5650 to 5700 rpm. Needless to say I am very happy with the boat now.
