I have a 1987 90 hp v4 evinrude. while out on the h20 my overheat alarm went off. the shop replaced both thermo's, the alarm in the remote contrl. (because it was not sounding loud enough) and checked the water pump. they water tested the motor and the overheat alarm did not come on. BUT when they tested the wiring by grounding it to the block, rapid beep's were heard and would only go away when the VRO wiring was disconnected. t<br />hey replaced the pump w/a used VRO claiming the wiring was bad in the old one. My first time out the no oil flow alarm sounded. when it sounded i primed the oil res. ball and the alarm shut off. this happened several times within an hour of running the motor between idle and 8 mph. the pressure and vacumm tested ok on the pump. the tech says the wiring is faulty and that the motor is getting oil even when the alarm goes off because the vro test ok... ANY INFO WOULD HELP GREATLY
