My 1981 90 HP Johnson will stall when idling with the engine tilted up. It runs fine at all open throttle speeds. Idle at trimed down position is a little rough. I need to squeeze the primer bulb to start after it stalls with the engine tilted up. About 1-1/2 years ago the fuel pump was replaced and the carbs were rebuilt. The replacement float needles did not have rubber tips like the old ones. Thanks for any advice. Bert.

Hey, Bert. Float type carbs aren't meant to operate except at near-level angles.

Tight lines.
JB

your needles were upgraded because additives in todays fuels would swell them and make them not work properly.
