Any suggestions??

The oil injection sensor (no oil) light and buzzer are activating at idle and low speed on my 2000 90 hp Johnson outboard although at higher rpm the light goes out. The engine is running perfectly and appears to be getting enough oil even at idle when the alarm is sounding as there is no overheating. Could the sensor be faulty and how is it replaced. Thanks for any help.

Check remote oil tank and hoses to pump.

The most common cause for an alarm at low speeds are air leaks in the system. Make sure the factory style clamps are on the hoses, there are no splices, and there are no "ty-raps".

In rare cases, in internal check valve is faulty, or the oil pump piston gets sticky. Replacement is the only option in those cases.

You can get rebuilt ones from:
www.dfitechnologies.com

The oil hose on the 2000/1 engines is a cheap hose and is easy to squeeze closed by inproper routing and rigging of hoses and wiring harness. The old style hose had a much thicker wall.
