I just bought a 16' fiberglass Bass boat that seems to be really nice with a 1986 90 hp Mariner inline 6 . My only concern is that it is rated for 75 HP max. Is this to much motor or will it be ok if I dont act crazy? I was concerned about the weight diffrence of the two engines. I haven't had it on the lake yet. What do ya'll think?

Thanks

You are over your BIA rating and that just asks for trouble. Apparently it is too much or they would have rated it for such (BIA). State Farm won't insure you if you are over the rating.

Also, by '86 Merc is prop rated, so you can't use the adage that it is powerhead rated and hence equivalent to a 75 of today.
