Hi Guys, great site. I have a 90HP Mariner (I think its a 1990 year model) Recently the TACH (Quicksilver) on my dash stopped working.

I took a voltmeter to it and determined that it is NOT my tach or my Throttle control, the problem lies (probably) in the motor itself.

Anyone know where I can find some info or offer some advice on how to fix this problem?

Many thanks!

Re: 90 hp MARINER Tach Problem

Just so happens I am questoning the accuracy of my dash mounted tach on an 85 Mercury 90HP 6-cyl. I am looking for a 'test' tach that would be easy to hook upand verify the dashboard tach reading. If I find out anything that might help you I will post it here

Someone over in the general forum answered with this URL

http://www.tinytach.com/origgas.html

Tinytach is the make I saw in a Briggs and Stratton manual but they didnt mention the name.
These are so simple I was thinking maybe I could just use a handheld DMM with a frequency counter mode and multiply by six. 2 Stroke engines fire once per revolution right?
