Will the trim and tilt from a 1990 90 hp engine fit and handle a 1989 125hp ?
And - will the 90 hp lower unit fit a 1990 120 hp?

The lower should fit fine. Different gear ratio though so you will need to watch your tach.
Don't want to run over 5500 rpms on the 120.
Use the drive shaft and coupler that go with the 120 for the 90 lower.
Double check the spline count, all should be 13 splines.
Try a new thread about the trim and tilt parts and you may have better luck.

If the trim unit is the five sided ram with separate tilt cylinder rather than the Mercury single ram, yes, it will fit and yes, it can handle the 125 horsepower.

Thank you guys. You have both helped me out before and because of it, I have been able to bring
a good time to several friends and children while keeping things affordable and in perspective.

I have seen some bad advice on lower unit compatibility. It may be time for Frank to repost again.
