Just bought the motor. Very very very clean btw. At the low end of the idle it will pop/sneeze and puff smoke out the exhaust then die. I cleaned the carb, but there wasn't much to clean as it was spotless, basically just hit the needle and the idle orifice and reassembled. Ran it for about 10 min. and it popped once or twice in the first min and then nothing after that.
It is set to 1 1/4 turns out, which is what i believe is the minimum for most, so I don't want to really go any richer. When I pull the plugs they are dark and wet with no signs of being lean. And yes they are the correct plugs OEM.
The compression is 75 psi in each hole. Seems low to me but they are the same so whatever...
So the only thing I can think of is that maybe it just needs to warm up? Maybe its just getting gunk out of the other orifices after not being ran for 2 years, maybe I missed an orifice (however there aren't very many on these carbs)...One thing I did not do was clean the primer/choke section of the carb. Reason being, it squirts gas just fine and I don't see how it has anything to do with it idling/running, maybe I am wrong, please correct me.
I guess only time will tell. In the mean time anyone got some advice?
