JLEHighland, not sure what to tell you about whether it might be your stator or the swithbox because of how the number 4 plug is fouling. Id like to try grounding my own to see if the alarm goes off, I just disconnected it in my test. However, it sounds like the root problem for yours is probably pretty consistent, and if it is in the stator, the standard stator tests will reveal something before you have to spend the money.
