90hp 78 inline 6 winter use

Thinking about fishing walley on Mississippi river this winter/pre spawn 30 degrees Will it run and start. Never tried before. Shuld I just forget it?

You may have a problem getting her to start, as those motors are hard to start in warm conditions. Make sure she will spin fast when cranking so the choke will function efficiently. Cold start lever all the way up, primer bulb pumped good and hard. Crank her while choking, until she starts. I doubt you could flood that motor.

Other than that, there is no issue with using her in the cold. She may run a bit rough due to the cold water, but that is OK.

Make sure to leave the motor in the vertical position until it is completely drained, if you trailer it. If she is in a slip, leave the motor tilted down so she will stay drained. The gearcase should stay under water, in the slip.
