90hp inline 6cyl. spark problem

My 1984 Merc 90HP Inline 6 is only firing on cyl 2,4,6 (they all run off the same switch box). When I reversed the switch boxes, It didn't change anything, thus ruling out a bad switchbox. So? Is is the stator? Will a simple continuity check test the stator windings? If so, what should the resistance be?<br /><br />Thanks

Between (red/wht or red) & ground 125-175 ohms<br />Between blue & red 5000-6000 ohms
