A couple of years ago, I bought a boat with a 1991 90hp Johson on it.<br /><br />I was doing maintenance on it this spring and decided to pull the thermostats<br />and take a look at them (age unknown). No thermostats present in the engine.<br />I called the previous owner and asked about this. He said the dealer pulled<br />them out because of an overheat problem back in 1994.<br /><br />The engine runs great, has 125 lbs on each cylinder. Should I be concerned<br />about this situation, or just continue to run it as-is?<br /><br />I talked to the shop at a local dealer, and was told it is not uncommon to pull<br />the thermostats.
