I recently broke down in the bay after running all day. Motor would not restart after our last 10 min run of the day.It started briefly made a metalic sound and died. when I tried to restart it it would not crank. After being towed to dock. When I manually turned the flywheel it would not make a full 360 degree turn. Rather it sticks at about 3/4 of a turn in either direction. PLEASE ADVISE A REMEDY

Re: 90hp merc trouble

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but if you can't physically rotate the motor with the starter or by hand, it probably means you that broke something internal. the metalic sound seems to back that idea. Take out your spark plugs and shine a flashlight in - can you still see the pistons?

Somebody who knows more about this stuff will surely chime in, but as far as I can tell, it looks like you have a busted powerhead or possibly a busted lower unit. Good luck with it.
[edit]: Spelling
