1) I have two 1990 force 90s with blown powerheads. Are they worth the two grand a peice to put new powerheads on?
2) On one of them I had good compresion on all cylinders and good spark, but #2 seemed to be doing very little. If I grounded the plug lead on it the motor would slow but keep running. If I grounded 1 or 3 it would die instantly.
The carbs were good, I think. What else could cause this. It might help to know that that motor finally died by loosing compression on the bottom two cylinders.

No it's not worth thousands to put new powerheads on them. They are already 20yrs old.
But they would be worth rebuilding if you were gonna use one or the other.
Post your compression results and then if that's bad remove the heads and post some pics.J

Re: 90hp powerheads

One of them has already been torn down and machined 30 over. The other is the one I just pulled off the boat and I have 120lb on #1, 60lb on #2, and 40lb on #3. Doesnt get much worse. I was just kind of wondering what would have caused #2 to have no power (before it blew) I had 120 to 125 on all cylinders and good spark. The plugs showed no sighns of running lean or rich. I was stumped. Only reason Im asking is so I know where to look if that happens to me again.
