Can anyone help me to figure out how much horsepower a 2004 Yamaha 90HP 2 stroke puts out at 3000 rpm?

According to manufacturers, some states achieving full HP at around middle wot rpm range, other at max wot rpm range, who's right or wrong who knows.

Yams are around middle wot rpm range say 5500 to achieve 90 HP, so at 3K rpm will be around 54 HP if the rule of 3 is correct.

Thanks Sea Rider, I found a horsepower/torque calculator online and I calculated 53.6 so that matches.

Now the reason I asked is because I want to repower my 18' Nautico Seagull with a 70HP Yamaha 4 stroke (the one they call the lightweight, only 253 lbs.) and I read on this forum that a 70 was considered under-powered for my boat. But, I was fine with the performance of my sick 90HP 2 stroke running at only 3000rpm. I could still cruise nicely at 17-20 mph and have a top speed of 25. Just trying to decide whether to go for the 70 because I refuse to hang a 350 lb motor on my transom so my only other option is a new 2 stroke which I don't want either. The 70 lightweight is my dream motor.

You can hang any HP motor on whatever boat you want, liners are excluded to rev to their max wot rpm range factory stated. Just expect displacement speeds on the portable ones and plane speeds on the larger ones provided that are propped right and run healthy.

For that project need to install an induction tach if boat doesn't have one to count with, go for a wot spin as loaded on flat calm water and check max wot rpm achieved with delivered prop, surely will need to drop some pitch down to compensate for less hole shot that will achieve with a 70 compared to a healthy 90 HP.

It's fun to play with load, tach and middle to max wot rpm range to get the max out of that combo running a underpowered engine.

probably best to stay in the range of max HP of boat rating to get the best results.
maybe 80% if I remember right, but could be wrong
