91 40 HP SHIFT ROD

Please Help. I have a 1991 40 h.p. Johnson, model #J40ELEIA I need to know the distance of the shift rod from the top deck of the lower unit to center of hole on shift rod when in neutral. Your help will be greatly appreciated. <br />George Pannell

Manual I have does not cover any thing smaller then 60 hp. For a 60hp its 21.72" (55.17cm).

George...the measure on the shiftshaft I have is <br />21 15/16"...+or- 5 inches for leg length...hope that helps...just a Thought
