Please help me!! I have a 91 Mariner w/ low hrs that the low oil beep will not shut up. It comes on when the key is turned on anddoesnt quit. I have replaeced the sensor in the bottom of the tank but to no avail. Everything else seems to be working ok. Any suggestions?

Replace the oil tank. There's a float inside that isn't floating or the magnet in it fell out. Not available or servicable separately. You need the whole tank.

Re: 91 Mariner oil warning beep troubles

I believe the oil sensor is open on rise, so if you disconnect either of the 2 wires that go from it to the oil module, it should shut up if the oil tank sensor is bad (or the magnet fell out). You can also test the sensor at that point with an ohmmeter.

There is also a motion sensor in the pump that feeds the module. The book has testing for that as well.

The oil module gets a signal from the switchbox. That could be bad as well.

If all those tests are good, the module itself is bad.

Throwing parts at it based on Willy's limited esperience is expensive and frustrating.

BTW, a steady horn tone is a short in the wiring, or the overtemp sender.

Oil troubles are a beeping (intermitent) sound.

hope it helps.
