Ok: can i get a little light shed ! Ignition coil on the mercruiser is it a resistor coil ? Is the trophy that come with omc cobra a resistor coil ? I have the 6 volts on the positive side so that one should be non resistor right ? What i can't find is where did they resistor the voltage ? Resistor wire ? I put the merc in the trophy and it run perfect for a hour or so then it went to busting out and found i had 6 volt in and three out .Should be 12 in 6 out . It is just weird why they would change from one to another .This is a get by engine out of my capri ,while i ouer haul the perkins diesel so i can have a boat season .And by the why the engine is a 3.0 that has 5 hrs since a complete rebuild including the closed loop cooling .

Should have around 9.5 volts on the negitive side of the coil, 12 on the positive. That would be a internal resistor coil. You have other issues with 6 volts at +.
