Already searched Forum and located a post that suggested checking 50amp fuse. Problem....unable to locate 50 amp fuse(s) near starter or bell housing. Traced wires from Trim Relay back through wiring harness to a plug but no indication of a fuse. Is there a way to bypass relay to check to see if pump/motor is actually working? Unable to locate wiring diagram or manual for unit. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

Actually the 1991 should have 2 50 amp circuit breakers on the engine instead of fuses, look for a rectangular black piece with wires and possibly a red reset button, one is for the tilt/trim and the other one is for everything else.

Thanks Bob. I found the two breakers and tried pressing them. One depresses but the other one is hard; not pressing in. Does that signify it's faulty? How do I test?

My '91 5.0L OMC has the 2 50A fuses on top of the engine located in the two big black fuse holders. Did they change to breakers later that year? I did have to change one of the 50A fuses because it was causing an intermitent (sp?) starting problem.

BoatinBen...all you need is a voltmeter and check for 12v on both of the wires on each breaker, you should 12v going right through the breaker. Just put the black lead on a good ground and touch the red lead on the breaker wires.

DC698...do you know for sure your engine is a 91? It's not uncommon for dealers to put in leftovers from the year before, only way to tell for sure is by the engine model #.
