a picture is better than a thousand words GO FIGURE the cats out of the bag
i never said it was pretty, ;).. this is a transportation and work only type vehicle. drive it till it drops and dispose of at the junk yard when i'm done with it. that's why i gave it to my 19 year old son. good first car for him. when it runs, it's actually a pretty fun truck to drive. even has had the suspension gone thru and a extra leaf added to the rear.. 2 years ago it was my tow vehicle for my 02 yamaha fx-140 which was about a 1k lbs. i'd always have the crappiest looking tow vehicle at the ramp. got good mpg though. yes, i'd assume any ground could be suspect. the ft. damage is the turn signal only. think i just wire nutted the loose wires. headlight and marker work. even if i had a short there. that'd be a lighting circuit and i don't believe it'd effect the engine running proper. much of the damage is cosmetic. some rust....
as for adding some grounds. just randomly from the block to the body????
my feeling is that it's a random short in something that is probably in the ign circuit. but could be in the fuel injection circuit too. that covers a lot i think. i've even had it suggested that perhaps it's a cold solder in the ecu that mostly works. whatever happens, it happens catastrophically and instantly. it fixes itself instantly too. something intermittent to include a ground.... i'm clueless... and it runs proper right now so hopeless as to finding it till it breaks again... to be revisited at a later unknown date i'd guess.... :(
who owns that '69 half ton chevy in the background?
that's the neighbors truck. hands off. i got dibs, :).. it's got a L6 engine in it that i want for my boat when the truck goes south. ;).... it is a nice one ain't it.... a daily driver that never gets any service performed to it. it's abused and it always runs. it does have the rustys. though not as bad as many that are neglected. we have the rustys problem a lot in nebraska.... good ol made in the usa truck...

Not knocking anything ifin I had pictures of some of the things I drove they have to be the at least the 8th or 9th wonders of the world but they were fixed to always run great until the MAN's parts screwed up
