92 115hp Johnson shuts off when trimmed up

I recently had the carbs cleaned and redone with the kit. I had been running it great at the house after the carb job. I took it out and ran it at various RPM's for about 20 minutes with no problems. I even stopped the boat and idled for a few minutes. When I reached my dockage I had to trim the engine up because it was getting shallow, I was moving a little above idle trying to manuever slowly and then the engine shuts off. I tried to start again and could not. I was able to finally start it but I had to have the shifter accelerated quite a bit, as soon as I brought it back to neutral it would shut off again. I had read on some other site that the problem could be related to the carb floats getting stuck when the engine is trimmed up and thus causing the engine to flood and thus shut off. I was wondering if anyone might know what could be wrong. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I plan on waiting for high tide to bring the tilt down and try to start it again. If it is getting stuck, what is the best way to get it unstuck.

the carbs are made to operate level, when you tilt them they get out of balance, thus the float gets out of whak, and leaves the needle open or closed., flooding or starving the motor.

I hope this might be a one time fluke occurance since they are new floats and maybee they need to break in. If it happens again then I might need to take it back to get readjusted. Is it recommended to tap the bowl to get them unstuck? Thanks again

won't hurt. like i said the are not designed to work correctly if tilted the motor atleast has to be down far enough the trim cylinders kick in , not the tilt cylinder.

Ok, I understand now. I do think I might have tilted it a little above the trim cylinders. That makes perfect sense. I really appreciate your help on this and I will let you know how it goes.
