Twin 1992 Evenrude 150 HP, 6-cyl. 60° E150NXENC and E150EXEM Serial #s
PORT ENG: G03014951, STBD: G03076183

Counter-rotating engine has intermittent spark.
Background (sorry for being wordy)
I am still trying to get these engines running correctly.
Finally had someone remove all the garbage under the center console re-wire the electronics, new ignition switches and two new safety cut-offs.

Both engines started fine in the driveway. Took boat to the lake, Counter-rotating engine cranked but would not start.
Back at the house found the housing of the neutral safety interlock switch was broken so we wired the circuit without the switch.

No spark. Then engine started and ran fine and started several times, now no spark. Getting 12+V to the wires at the top of the powerpacs

Several questions:
1. The test procedures in the manual calls for specialty testing equipment from OMC. Are substitutes available?
2. Is it prudent to remove parts from the running engine and put them on the problem child until the problem is solved? Or do I run the risk of damaging the working parts?
3. The wires at the regulator/Recitifier appear to have gotten hot, insulation melted together but still in tact. Would you guess that this is the problem? 18-5828 Regulator/Recitifier is $197 on IBoats. Shall I swap from the other engine to check, use the manual to trouble shoot the system (and buy test equipment) or a bad Regulator/Recitifier is mostly likely problem and buy a new one.
4. It was also suggested to me to remove the flywheel and check that the magnets are all firmly in place???

Thanks for any input and help
