Hey I was wondering if any new how the hood vents on the side of an 92 evenrude 200 were supposed to be installed. Looks like it could either force the air up or down depending on how you turned them. Thanks

:welcome: Howard 79 to iboats. Always great to have a new member join us....

I looked at '91, '92 and '93 Evinrude 200 HP engines and I didn't see any vents that could be installed but one way. I didn't see any 200 xp models listed at all. So if you can post a picture or three, we can offer better opinions and advice, If you care to look at the '92 Evinrude engines, type in boats dot net and supply the correct info and take a look. They are a great way for water to get inside the cowl. They will not provide any increase in power unless the normal air entry points are blocked. They will let a crap load of noise out, and as mentioned before, let water in

They face to the rear as if facing forward when running /tow water would enter cowl.

Those vents don't look like they can point up or down but front or read instead. And that was why I couldn't find anything to support your original question. However, you now know how they go now and that really is all that matters. Post your paint job. We would like to see your project and we love pictures. :thumb:

The vents only have openings on one end thus directing the air either up or down depending on how they are installed . This boat is for sale
