Thank you Bondo I was worried I had to take it back out of the water again and pull the valve cover. The old fashioned finger and straw trick is much cleaner and faster for finding tdc.... Just to be sure on a 4 stroke the exhaust stroke will raise the cylinder but shouldn't compress air because it'll escape through the valves?

Ayuh,.... 'n if ya get it wrong, it's 180? out,....

Btw,.... the cylinder is static, the piston rises, 'n falls,...
