Hey Hi!
What is the status of the transom....Hate to say but most times with all the rot below the transom goes too! Would hate to see all that expensice nida core go to waste if the transom isn't addressed at this time. :)

I'm going to replace it with composite too. Just haven't got the motor pulled yet, hopefully Ill get it out next weekend.

Got my axle build and motor is ready to pull.
Transom was trash as expected. Motor mount are in fair shape but I might as well replace those while I'm at it

I drilled the motor mounts in 6 different places and got good try wood, so I'm thinking about reusing them. The transom however is gone after drilling thru the glass I could just push the drill thru the wood or lack of.

That's Good News about the MM's. When your ready to cut out the old wood on the transom the best/easiest method for doing so is to set a circular saw at the the depth of the wood and then cut a 2" grid across the wood. These horizontal and vertical cuts can then be easily removed with a hammer and wide nosed chisel. If you have a Sawsall, they make a chisel attachment for it that really makes short work for chiseling the wood off. Here's a video of one of our members using the Grid cutting technique...

Thanks for the info WOG. If the whole thing is as bad as the couple places I drilled then it should go fairly easy!!!!

Yup for sure. I even drilled the motor mounts in a couple more spots. I'm still in disbelieve that they aren't trashed too.

What is the best way to calculate how much foam I need. Or does anyone have a ballpark guess?
