JETman: Thanks for your input/photos on this. I got involved in other things and couldn't post. ENded up doing both cyl's, been using boat quite a bit, cyl's working fine.
It appears that the seal set you got is the way to go. THe sets I got were for one cyl, and had a couple seals not sized right.
And finally, pics of the cut and ground cyl cap removal socket, a 1/1/8 size deepbroached deepwell. I think 1/1/16 would be better.2012 trim cyl socket 001.jpg2012 trim cyl socket 002.jpg

Re: '92 DP-C trim ram/piston disassembly question

I am about to have to do this same thing, or just replace a cylinder. The port side cylinder has been leaking all season, and really making a mess, but I put off fixing/replacing it for financial reasons. Yesterday, the trim completely stopped working, and it actually moves up and down freely now, so I had to tie it up in order to get it home without damaging the drive/props. Would you reccommend replacing the cylinder or going through this process for a pedestrian diy-er like myself? I am somewhat capable (rebuilt my drive, and pulled and part-switched a new block and heads this off-season) and I have access to good tools. But I am not an expert by any means.

Re: '92 DP-C trim ram/piston disassembly question

I would recommend the kit. After finding this thread I decided to buy the kit to fix my badly leaking trim cylinder. I bought mine from Bill a few weeks ago and he was extremely helpful. It is quit simple to do. I did have a few issues but completely my fault. Bill told me what the problem was and it was a piece of cake after that. Just make sure you remove the metal ring in the top of the cap (look at post #20 that's what the top of the cap should look like before you try to install the new wiper seal) that was really my only issue. Also the pipe wrench was a must for me. Good Luck!

Great. One more question: I have looked on ebay, and the kits I find are around $150. I keep seeing people say $94. Where can I find that price tag?

Grovols: I believe the guy in mich. has the least costly kit, that is if you don't need the weird flat piston seals. those cost extra.

I ordered the kit from the Michigan man today. His price has gone up from the one posted in this thread, but it is cheaper than eBay, because he gives a $10 discount to iboats members. I'll let you all know how it goes.
