Hey guys I have a 40hp Japan mariner lost the lower unit in a grounding accident bent prop shaft prop and other things gonna be costly to repair due to labour as I found the parts used bolts are seized everywhere bearing carrier included

My question is the guy offered to trade my motor for a 35hp evinrude I'm wondering what to expect in performance the 40hp mariner used to push me in my 16.5ft runabout 34 knots on the gps any thoughts on this and weight differencw

Was there a 35 in '92? If so go with the 35 assuming it passes comp and spark and l.u. pressure test.

I read this as you get a running motor fir free

Yes the motor will be serviced before I get it and it's just a straight swap I'm not 100% on the year he said it was close to my 40 which is a 92

Problem with that is if its an older 35 its rated at the crank.notnthe prop. Year is important

Let's say it's based on the new hp models at the prop any thoughts on performance vs the 40

The guy did say it was close to mine so what years were those motors made around that time

Just have him give you the model #. Post it and we can answer. Guessing will not work.
