Hello, been a while since I posted and had a few fuel delivery questions.

I have a 92 Johnson 115 that has been having some fuel delivery problems. I'm about to replace the fuel/water separator the fuel filter under the cowling the primer bulb and fuel line from the fuel sep to the motor. I thought there may be a problem with the main fuel/vod pump which happens to be $408 locally and went into a panic. As it turns out there is an auxiliary pump mounted along the gunnels from the fuel tank located below deck. This pump does not seem to be working, or at least I have never heard it running and simply turning the motor over real quck did not produce any results.

Questions:
1. Is this aux pump necessary due to the 3 ? 4 foot drop from the main pump to the tank?
2. Should this aux pump be connected to the ignition switch in the on position, or a seperate switch?
3. In a pinch can I bypass this pump and run straight to the fuel/water separator?
4. Finally what pump would you recommend as a replacement if that is the answer?

Thanks a ton for the help I have already answered most of my other questions with your responses to other posts, very helpful site!

Thanks in advance,
Keith

There should be nothing in the fuel line from the tank to the motor except a primer bulb and a water seperator.

I swear I just read in the manual that if the tank is so many inches below the fuel pump that there may be issues... I could be wrong, lord knows I have been before!

So in this case would you remove the aux fuel pump and simply put a coupler in? Or would you run a completely new line to the sep from the tank?

If I were doing it I'd run a new line. A coupler is / can be a fuel restriction.
