92 johnson 120 turns off at idle/any suggestions?

every time the engine is going slow it shuts off. when i'm trying to get the boat on the trailer it doesn't fail, besides me being a rookie boater having trouble getting the boat on the trailer the engine keeps turning off. <br /><br />please help<br />postman

Your engine should idel at 750 rpms. If it wont, then check your timeing and make sure its what manual calls for.<br /><br />good luck!

Run SeaFoam in the fuel. It is an excellent fuel system cleaner and fuel conditioner. It may be the carbs are getting gummed up. If they have never been cleaned and rebuilt, it may be time. (Forget spraying stuff into the throat -- that's not where they get clogged.)
