My manual trim is not working correctly. When I turn lever counterclockwise the motor will lower OK and will hold in place when I turn lever back clockwise. But if I back up, the motor tries to lift and when driving the motor bounces on the rotatable stops (they are starting to bend). Is this unit serviceable? Could it be low fluid? What type of fluid is inside and can you flush and refill?

Billy

Billy....the tilt assist cylinders are not servicable. They are a sealed cylinder full of gas....sorta like struts or gas shocks. Take it to a trusted wrench and ask him to make sure the cable to lever adjustment is correct. A little out makes them do funny things.

Keep us posted.....Jim

I recently had to replace the plastic piece that screws onto the end of the cable because it broke. Do you think it needs adjusting. Also, I thought there was hydraulic fluid or something similar in the cylinder because it seems a little oily on the outside.

Thanks for the reply.
