I have a Johnson Tracker Pro Series 90h.p. outboard that has fairly new powerheads and runs excellent but starting it sucks. After I pump the ball, put the throttle up all the way, choke and turn the key, it starts right up. But it revs real high and gives out alot of smoke. When I put it down to idle, sometimes its cool but sometimes it dies. That seems to be the only way for me to start up my motor even though its been runnin all day. What do you think my problem is? Why can't I just turn the key once and start right up? Is this normal for a motor of that age?
