'92 yamaha 40hp tach question

How easy is it to install a simple tach on the above motor. I was hoping to buy a unit (any recommendations?)and mount it near my battery as it's a tiller model. I've got the OEM owner's manual with full electrical diagrams.<br /><br />Thanks in advance for your replies.<br /><br />Have a great 2006.

Not difficult but that model required a converter kit for the tach to work.

Thanks Ray, what is a 'coverter' kit or where could I buy one. My local yamaha dealer gives me blank looks when I ask him (never been very impressed with them, but like their Yamaha's).<br /><br />Again, thanks for your help.
